SIMA 2009
The 11th Madrid International Real Estate Exhibition, SIMA09, was held on May 27-30 at Madrid’s Parque Ferial Juan Carlos I. It was organised and promoted by Planner Reed, with the special collaboration of Asprima, and with the El Mundo newspaper acting as Official Communicator.
The 11th SIMA came to a close having achieved record numbers of contacts and transactions, as well as the overall satisfaction of the exhibitors, whose business expectations were surpassed and who were resounding in their praise of the fair’s profitability.
The fair was inaugurated by the Excma. Sra. Dª Esperanza Aguirre Gil de Biedma, President of the Comunidad de Madrid, and by Dª Beatriz Corredor Sierra, Spain’s Housing Minister
SIMA09 played host to 230 exhibitors, of which 77 (33.6% of the total) were international exhibitors originating from 21 countries.
SIMA09 received a total of 63,487 visitors, 6,131 of which were sector professionals, with 57,356 coming from the general public.
As far as related activities are concerned, the Exhibition conference programme boasted 128 speakers and more than 1,500 participants. The programme highlights were the following::
- Madrid Real Estate Conference 2009. Joint-organised by Planner Reed and Asprima, sponsored by Deloitte and TINSA.
- Global Real Estate Congress. Joint-organised in collaboration with ECM, the National Association of Realtors (USA), the European Council of Real Estate Professions (CEPI) and the European Real Estate Confederation (CEI), and sponsored by Deloitte and TINSA.
- The SIMACITIES forum, as part of the programme of the Global Real Estate Congress.
- The MINT forum (Real Estate Market and New Trends). Organised in collaboration with the Casadomo and Construible portals.
- Forum on real estate investment in Brasil. Organised by ECM.
- SIMA PLAZA programme of meetings and business presentations, as part of the programme of the Global Real Estate Congress.
Furthermore, as has been the case in recent years, SIMA09 provided the stage for the sixth prize-giving gala of Asprima-SIMA Awards, organised by Asprima and Planner Reed, and sponsored by Caja Madrid.
Within the SIMA FUTURA space, the Fair hosted the first uncovering of the Black & White project, a solar housing prototype developed at Madrid’s Universidad Politécnica, and which will take part in the Solar Decathlon international competition, due to be held in Washington, US, in October, 2010.
Likewise, SIMA09 was the place chosen for the public presentation of the models of what will be the “Villa Solar” at the first ever Solar Decathlon Europe, which will take place in June 2010. This competition has, thus far, been held three times, each of them in Washington DC, so that the one scheduled for June 2010 will be the first one organised outside the US.
